Teachers who benefitted from the 2014/2015 “Teacher4Change” training programme of the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Limited, have commended the authorities of the company for initiating the project.

Speaking at the certificate presentation ceremony held at St. Theresa Primary School, Apapa, a teacher, Mrs. Antonia Akude, said the training accorded her the opportunity to learn the best approaches in teaching profession, especially in the area of “imparting knowledge and taking into consideration the uniqueness of every child in a classroom.”

Another teacher from Adeniyi Jones Primary School, Ikeja, Mrs. Udeafor, said she was planning to quit the profession but for her nomination for the NBC sponsored Teacher4Change project. “Now, I have a new spirit, new discovery and new motivation like never before towards teaching,” she added.

Also, the head teacher of the host school, Mrs. Margret Imokhodu, thanked NBC for focusing on teacher development. Meanwhile, the Public Affairs Manager of NBC, Ifeoma Okoye, has in her opening remarks, noted that the capacity building was aimed at enriching educational development in communities.

She challenged teachers to put to good use the knowledge gained at training. “All teachers should learn to share knowledge and best practices with their colleagues,” she added.

The one-year training, Okoye said, was designed in line with the current school curriculum of Lagos state with tailor made learning experience that can be put to immediate use by the participants. “NBC is fully committed to sustainable partnerships with stakeholders and collaboration with Lagos State Ministry of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in the ‘Teacher4Change’ project.

The project in partnership with Stephen Adams Social Reformation Foundation has trained a total of 24 teachers from the two schools adopted by NBC. The teachers were also awarded with prizes and electronic gadgets to assist them in their learning research and best global practices,” she said.
